The health benefits of matcha
We import the highest quality matcha originating from the birthplace of tea in Japan, Yamé. Our ceremonial premium matcha is made from the best quality tencha, shade grown green tea leaves, harvested once a year in spring. Only the best tencha is finely stone-grounded in a traditional marble millstone.
Matcha contains a huge amount of minerals, antioxidants, L-theanine which improves your alertness and sleep, vitamins like A, B-complex, C, E, K and chlorophyll and is a source of dietary fibers.
Matcha is energizing, detoxifying and awakening. Matcha gives a long lasting energy boost and it creates a state of relaxed awareness, which is the reason that Zen Bhuddist and Samourai drank matcha for centuries. Matcha is a superfood!
Why is matcha healthier than green tea?
Matcha delivers health benefits like no other food, drink, or traditional green tea can. It contains 10 to 15 times more ingredients than green tea and gives you an energy boost for 3 to 6 hours. Matcha cleanses your body in a natural way and lowers bad-cholesterol.
Matcha contains vitamins, minerals antioxidants and amino acids, including L-Theanine, which develops during the long period of shading. L-Theanine in matcha lowers stress levels and calms you down. It gives a boost to your energy, and free radicals. Amino acids will help to build proteins in muscle tissue, that are important for the growth, improvement and recovery of your skin, muscles, organs, hair, nails e.g. When consumed before a workout, it increases blood flow to muscles, protects the heart, and increases the availability of the critical muscle fuel called glycogen.
Caffeine: matcha versus coffee
Matcha contains caffeine, but it contains less caffeine than black tea or coffee! Ceremonial grade matcha contains approximately 55 mg, coffee contains 75 mg caffeine. Matcha will give you an energy boost for 3-6 hours, coffee will only give you energy for only 30 minutes.
Matcha and EGCG
One of the health benefits of matcha is its high antioxidant count. Many green tea drinkers go crazy over the level of EGCG in matcha, it’s a very powerful antioxidant. EGCG is the acronym for EpiGalloCatechin Gallate. It’s the main polyphenol found in matcha. In fact, a study that did a dry leaf comparison between Matcha and another type of green tea showed that the concentration of EGCG in matcha is 137 times greater than what’s available in the other green tea. The same study also showed matcha’s EGCG concentration is at least three times greater than the largest concentration value in other regular green teas. 1 gram of high grade matcha contains 30-35 gram EGCG.
