Matchaaa was born from a genuine love for ritual, beauty and well-being. Founder Wendy Gaurié took her first sip of matcha many years ago in Asia, and that moment stayed with her long after. What started as curiosity slowly became a daily ritual - a pause in the day, a feeling of calm focus and natural energy. The taste surprised her, but even more so the way it made her feel: grounded, clear and connected.

In 2021, she began building Matchaaa together with Japanese tea specialist Yu Nakamura, deepening the connection to Japan and sourcing beautiful ceremonial grade matcha directly from producers in Uji, Yame, Kagoshima and other regions known for their rich soil, mountain mist and centuries-old tea traditions.

Our matcha is first flush, ceremonial grade, stone-ground and vibrant green. Each matcha carries its own personality - from soft and creamy to rich, bold and umami. There is always a matcha to match your mood, moment and ritual.

The spirit of Matchaaa is inspired by the Japanese macaques. Curious, playful and deeply connected to nature, these monkeys are often seen relaxing together in natural hot springs in the mountains of Japan. In Japanese culture, monkeys have long been seen as protectors and spiritual messengers connected to mountain temples and nature. We imagine them slowing down, soaking in the warmth, sipping matcha and simply being present in the moment.
